Spiros N. Agathos

Spiros N. Agathos is Professor Emeritus at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium and Chair Professor at Harbin Engineering University, China with research interests in bioprocess design and optimization, biocatalysis, bioremediation, and biotechnology for sustainability. He served as Inaugural Dean and Rector of Yachay Tech University (Ecuador 2015-2019). Previously he was Professor and Chair of Bioengineering (1993-2015) at Louvain and Assistant Professor at Western (Canada) and Rutgers University (USA) following a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has published 220 articles, 5 books and 4 patents, is Editorial board member of several journals and Fellow of the International Water Association (IWA), the American Academy for Microbiology (AAM) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
