The partnership between Elsevier and Egyptian Knowledge Bank has brought positive gains to Egyptian research
In recognition of the longstanding partnership between the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) and Elsevier, Youngsuk “YS” Chi, the chairman of Elsevier, will meet with several high-level officials of Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to discuss Egypt’s research impacts achieved through the collaboration with EKB. Supported by the relationship between Elsevier and EKB, Egyptian researchers have progressed in putting forth impactful research, particularly as related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). For example, according to research conducted by Elsevier at the behest of EKB, Egyptian research related to UN SDGs strongly drove Egyptian research, outputs and impacts, and was highly collaborative, showing impressive engagement with international researchers to address the global challenges of sustainability:
6,113 articles, conference papers and reviews related to the UN SDGs have been published by researchers from Egypt.
Almost a third of Egypt’s research output is related to the UN SDGs.
Egypt’s SDG-related research grew by 17% annually, a rate more than double the global average.
Half of Egypt’s SDG-related research publications were the result of international collaboration.
Further, in support of Egypt’s national strategic goals:
Elsevier produced an analytical reportopens in new tab/window related to renewable energy, presented during the Egypt-hosted COP27. In the report, Elsevier honored Egypt by profiling a success story about solar energy.
Through the Big Data project, Elsevier will help Egypt to allocate resources to drive more efficiency within the research community.
